Micah 5:1-5 Bible Journaling

PJ has challenged us to do Micah 5:1-5 for the Christmas season. I have been thinking on it and meditating on it and the phrase "He shall be their peace" stood out to me. I am so glad that Christ is my peace! There is nothing better! I got to thinking and I remembered that I had an old retired Stampin Up stamp that shows Bethlehem! What could be better than to already have something that works for your Bible journaling! I used post it notes to mask off the areas that I did not want to be stamped on and for the star light that is shining down. I used distress ink for the colors.

Isiah 11:1 and Isiah 46:9

Gerald and I are studying Isaiah for our daily Bible reading. My friend, PJ at church has asked that we do some Bible journaling on Isaiah 11 and Isaiah 46. I found the drawing of the man on Pinterest and wanted to draw him for my journaling on Isaiah 46:9. I think Isaiah was trying to warn Judah that God was so displeased with their idol worship. They had completely forgotten God and they were the nation that was to bring the Savior to the world! They were so broken but through Isaiah, God reminded them that He was God and there was NONE like him!
But isn't it just like God to use the broken to bring the Savior into the world. Isn't it amazing what Isaiah saw about the coming Savior so many years before He was born. And then isn't it amazing that we can come and adore Him now! Oh come let us adore him!

Bible Journaling - Psalm 100:1-2

Here is my Bible Journaling for this week's challenge which is Psalm 100: 1-5. Verses one and two stood out to me. At this time of the year I am especially thankful to our Lord since it is the season of Thanksgiving. We are so thankful to be in a new home near our children and grandson. We had a very sweet Thanksgiving with them this year and no one had to travel. What a blessing! When I am thankful, I think of old hymns to sing so this is my drawing for this week's challenge. I did see this on Pinterest and my drawing is very similar. The birds at the top are a stamp with a little of pen filling in.

Bible Journaling - Psalm 105:2

My friend, PJ has issued a challenge on her Facebook page for Bible journaling for Psalm 105:1-6  Psalm 105 verse 2 stood out to me because of a sweet  service that we had at church Sunday. The sermon was on the power of worship and praise and song. At the end of the service, a man played the piano and we sang, "We exalt Thee". You could really feel the Spirit of God and no one wanted to leave. So here is my drawing for that.

Bible Journaling - Psalm 77:12

My friend PJ here in Wiston-Salem, NC where I have moved has issued a Bible journaling challenge for us in Psalm 77: 10-12. Her challenge word was "Remember". So I have been thinking about what to do for her challenge. Our pastor in our new church which is Awake church has challenge us to think of starting the day remembering God's love for us before we do anything else. So I have been trying to do this daily and it has made a big difference in my life and my attitudes. So that is the direction that I wanted to go. I love that my translation uses the word "Ponder". I think this word means that we should think carefully and remember what God has done.  This is my drawing in my journaling Bible for this challenge.

Mix It Monthly - Zodiac sign, Fire and glitter

I did read all the instructions on Mix It Monthly Site. I read it and saw zodiac sign, fire and glitter. When I went back I realized that it was specific signs of the zodiac in the group of fire which are Leo, Sagittarius and Aries! But hopefully they will accept my Scorpio zodiac sign. I did a self portrait inspired by an article in September/October 2013 Somerset Studio entitled "The Loose Woman Series by Sue Pelletier. It is her series of paintings that embrace who you are - imperfections and all! So in my self portrait, I have a new tattoo of a scorpion and I am running on the very hot South Carolina beaches. That is where the fire element comes in. My bathing suit is done with a Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen for the glitter. This portrait will go into my good friend, Claudia's altered book which is "What Inspires You". Art inspires me and Sue's art inspired me to do this portrait. But I love looking at all kinds of art to get inspiration. That is one reason I like to do challenges and stretch myself to do more than I normally would.

Getting back in the swim of things - Mix It Monthly's theme of fish

Well our house is up for sale and we have been packing and painting and fixing! Busy, Busy! Although we are still in the process,  I wanted to get back into the swim of things and do some art and saw that Mix It Monthly's theme is fish! I saw a video of how to draw Koi fish on You Tube several months ago and saved the video. I thought now was the time to try and draw that beautiful fish in my art journal. Here is what it turned out like. Hope you enjoy seeing it. It is a watercolor which is my favorite medium. Now I just need to learn to get my camera strap out of the way when I take pictures!

Oh Dear!

Oh dear, I finally had time to draw a deer and Mix It monthly has changed their theme to music! Oh well, I hope that Linda enjoys the Winter scene that I created for her Nature Journal altered book. I hope that you enjoy seeing it too! The scenes are from Drawing Nature for the Absolute Beginner and they have step by step drawings for you to learn how to draw from nature. The waterfall scene is not a Winter scene in the book but I thought that I would make it one to go with my deer scene which was a winter scene in the book. It was fun to draw and not quite as hard as I imagined that it might be. That little cord is my camera cord that I took pictures of and didn't realize it! Duh!

Mix It Monthyly - Theme Circus and Try It on Tuesday - Theme Romance

Mix it Monthly's theme is Circus and I wanted to draw some elephants in my art journal for it. 2016 is the last year that Ringling Brothers will have elephants in the circus. It is kind of sad but I am really glad for the elephants who will retire to Florida. I hope they enjoy their retirement!
I never realized that elephants have so many wrinkles until I tried to draw them!
I found out while commenting on posts for Mix It Monthly that there is another challenge here on Try It Tuesday whose theme is romance and I thought that they might qualify for that too.

Ezekiel - dry bones and Altered Nest

I made a canvas with a skeleton to illustrate a passage in Ezekiel about dry bones and our art group wanted us to do an altered nest. The words on the painting say, "Thus says the Lord God to these bones, Behold I will cause breath to enter you and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and I will cause flesh to come upon you and you shall live and you shall know that I am the lord." ~Ezekiel 37:5-6.
The nest in the tin is a real nest made out of our horses' mane and tail hair. We think it might be a hummingbird nest because it is so small and delicate. I did not alter the nest too much because it is so delicate. Everyone who sees these tiny creations find it hard to believe that the birds really did create it but they do and they blow out of our trees and we find them on the ground. I always try to save them because they are so pretty to me.
